Set up your organization's holidays

Different employees may have different working days and holidays, even if they are within the same department. 

For example, you may have one sales department, but the employees work in different countries with different holidays. In this case, you can assign employees of each country to a country-specific holiday calendar. 

An employee’s holiday calendar determines the public holidays they are entitled to enjoy.

Once you’re done setting your organization’s holidays, apply the holiday calendar to your work groups. All employees in each work group will each have their own holidays as per the set holiday calendar. 

Access Permissions

  • Super Admin
  • Administrator with permissions to configure the Attendance application

Create a holiday calendar

  • In the SeaTalk Admin Center, navigate to Application > Leave & Attendance
  • In the left panel, click Holiday Calendar
  • In the upper right, click Add Holiday Calendar
  • In the dialog box, enter the Holiday Calendar Name and click Add. This will help you identify the holiday calendar. 
  • In the Holiday Calendar Name column, click the newly-created holiday calendar.
  • To manually input holidays one by one, click Add Holiday.
  • In the right panel, enter the Holiday Name.
  • Click the Date field and select the Start date and End date of the holiday.
  • In the bottom right, click Add.
  • To add the system-recommended holidays, click Add from Template.
  • In the right panel, click the Country dropdown menu and select the country of the holiday calendar you want. 
  • Click the Year dropdown menu and select the year of the holiday calendar you want. 
  • Select the Holiday Name checkboxes next to the holidays you want. 
  • In the bottom right, click Add
Please note: you can only add holidays from SeaTalk’s templates for the current year and the next year. If you manually add holidays, you can add holidays up to the next 10 years. 

Edit a holiday calendar

  • In the SeaTalk Admin Center, navigate to Application > Leave & Attendance
  • In the left panel, click Holiday Calendar
  • To edit a holiday calendar name: 
  • In the Holiday Calendar Name column, locate the holiday calendar you want and click the edit icon to its right.
  • Enter the new Holiday Calendar Name
  • Click Save.
  • To edit a specific holiday in a holiday calendar: 
  • In the Holiday Calendar Name column, locate and click the holiday calendar with the holiday you want to edit. 
  • In the Holiday Name column, locate the holiday you want and click the edit icon to its right.
  • In the right panel, enter the new Holiday Name, select the new start and end Date, and select the new Full Day / Half Day setting.
  • To add a holiday to a holiday calendar:
  • In the Holiday Calendar Name column, locate and click the holiday calendar you want to add a holiday to.
  • In the upper right, click Add Holiday.
  • In the right panel, enter the Holiday Name.
  • Click the Date field and select the Start date and End date of the holiday.
  • In the bottom right, click Add
  • To duplicate a Holiday Calendar: 
  • In the Holiday Calendar Name column, locate the holiday calendar you want to duplicate.
  • To its right, click the icon and select Duplicate Calendar
  • To delete a Holiday Calendar: 
  • In the Holiday Calendar Name column, locate the holiday calendar you want to delete.
  • To its right, click the icon and select Delete Calendar
  • To delete a specific holiday in a holiday calendar: 
  • In the Holiday Calendar Name column, locate the holiday calendar and click the Holiday Calendar Name
  • In the Holiday Name column, locate the holiday you want to delete and click the bin icon to its right.
